Finding Your Voice

"You want me to stay for dinner? I'll make my mac n' cheese for you. You'd love that. Only Daddy can make the best mac n' cheese." A three year old boy is nodding vigorously, bouncing up and down with a grin on his face. Anything for his favorite food.

The Case for the Travel Deviation

One of the most important values upheld by the state of Georgia and its courts is a parent's obligation to support his or her children. Parents, specifically non-custodial parents, are required by law to provide adequate support for their minor children, and a minor child's right to receive support cannot be waived.

Under Pressure

With the return of sports looming on the horizon, many are getting geared back up for what seems to be a frantic end to the year for professional sports. The NBA and NHL are trying to creatively figure out how to salvage post seasons. The MLS and MLB are trying to figure out how to begin their seasons. And many are hoping and praying that football goes off without a hitch. Personally, I am very much looking forward to watching golf on a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

The Counselor Is Wrong!

He had finally convinced her to go to counseling. It had taken years and, having been left unchecked, things had progressively gotten worse. After the first child, things eased up a bit. Maybe even got a little better. But more time passed, and things got rough again. She wouldn't go to counseling, but they did agree that they needed time together, just them, and so they took a vacation. That did not solve much, but they were fortunate to have a second child about 10 months later.

Child Abduction under the UCCJEA

Lisa and Chris have a one-year-old daughter together. Lisa and Chris have lived in Minnesota since before their daughter was born. Lisa recently split from Chris and has since been not allowing Chris to see his daughter. Chris has filed a Petition in his county's Superior Court in Minnesota to establish paternity and visitation rights to his daughter. Instead of responding to the Petition, Lisa packs up their daughter and absconds to Georgia. Chris is heartbroken and racked with emotion at the sudden absence of his daughter. What does he do now?

Every Tom, Dick and Harry

Sally was sitting at home. Actually, Sally was stewing at home. She kind of felt that way a lot these days. Fred had gotten on her last nerve before the Coronavirus and being locked in the house with him for two months was finally more than she could stand. He had to go. Or she had to go. Or somebody had to go. That's all she knew. Somebody had to go!
