All Family Law, All Around the WorldSM

My Passion, My Purpose

My name is Emily E. McClarty, and I am a new Associate Attorney at The Manely Firm. My journey from the bustling streets of Alpharetta, Georgia, to the rugged landscapes of Wyoming’s College of Law has been nothing short of an adventure.

Growing up in Georgia, music has always been a significant part of my life. I’ve played the viola for 15 years, since I was in the 4th grade. In my music career, I have had the privilege of performing alongside groups such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, GMEA-All State Orchestra, and Georgia College and State University Orchestra. I love to pick up the viola in my spare time and get lost in the music.

I also enjoy cross-stitching, reading, and hiking the trails in National State Parks.

My most cherished companion is my cat, Vernon. I rescued him from a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program  in Wyoming, and he’s been my faithful feline sidekick ever since. However, adjusting to the Georgia warmth hasn’t been easy for him. He’s more accustomed to the cool mountain breezes of Wyoming, and sometimes I catch him basking in the sunlight, looking a bit bewildered by the southern heat.

My academic journey began in Georgia, where I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Economics at Georgia College and State University (GCSU). Alongside my studies, I immersed myself in campus life, participating in organizations like Delta Sigma Pi, Delta Gamma, and the Economics Club. Music continued to be a significant part of my life, and I was honored to receive the prestigious Sandra McCall Rosseter Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Music in 2019.

In 2019, I took a big leap and accepted a position as a Camp Counselor at the Windham Tolland 4-H Camp in Connecticut. It was there that I learned about different family dynamics and the struggles that children face related to their own families. I accepted a position at the Camp again in 2020, but due to COVID-19, I could not return until 2022. It was during that Summer that I turned towards a passion for Family Law.

I have had a passion for law since I first saw Ms. Elle Woods in Legally Blonde when I was a child. Understanding the fictitious nature of the film was easy, but the overall idea of law stuck. I began to watch crime and legal shows until high school when I became invested in my Mock Trial Team. I participated for four years, going on to leadership positions for the team my final two years. It was mid-way through College that I decided to turn my passion for law into a career. I ventured to the University of Wyoming’s College of Law to pursue my Juris Doctor degree. Wyoming’s rugged beauty provided a stark contrast to the bustling streets of Alpharetta, but I was eager for the challenges that lay ahead (and there were many with COVID-19).

Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to be supported by my family and friends. My mom and dad have never stopped believing in me and have given (and continue to give) me the support that I need, to be where I am today.

With a multicultural background and fluency in both Spanish and English, I bring a unique perspective to my legal career, bridging divides and advocating for justice. From the symphony halls of Georgia to the courtroom debates in Wyoming, my journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of pursuing one’s dreams, no matter where life may lead.
