As we all know, Atlanta is an international city. The TPP was negotiated here for a reason. We also have a significant number of consulates and international companies with a significant presence in our town. We also have the Atlanta Center for International Arbitration and Mediation, which I’ve written about before, and the Atlanta International Arbitration Society. Atlanta is a very likely place to find a hotbed of International Family Law.
The Atlanta International Arbitration Society (AtlAs) is a large association of business and legal leaders who are promoting Atlanta throughout the word as the best place in the world to settle international disputes. “Welcome South, Y’all,” writ large. Frankly, my dear, what better place on the planet is there for hospitality, for cool headed thinking and for sweet iced tea than the City Too Busy To Hate?
And Atlanta is the hub for all things international. At The Manely Firm, we always have many active cases on four continents (not much international family law on Antarctica). On any given day we could be speaking and working in almost any country on the globe. We are about as likely to be handling a matter arising from Tokyo to Toronto to Tel Aviv as to Toledo, or from Caracas to Cairo to Kuala Lampur as to Cleveland, or from London to Lima to Lisbon as to Los Angeles.
You don’t need to spend time at the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market to get a taste for International Atlanta. Go to any mall. Go to any public gathering. A simple survey of the gathered will inform you that our people come from everywhere, and sometimes return there. And that’s where we come in.
Ours is an incredibly diverse city. And for all the folks coming and going, I’m very glad to call it home. There could not be a better place to settle international disputes and there could not be a better place to practice international family law.
