Family Law: Thankful at Thanksgiving

by | Nov 25, 2015 | Family Law

“Family quarrels are bitter things. They don’t go according to any rules. They’re not like aches or wounds, they’re more like splits in the skin that won’t heal because there’s not enough material.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald

With Thanksgiving almost upon us, let’s be thankful for people in our lives who support us and help us through the toughest times. People who give us courage to go on and to fight for what is right- every day. For our fiends, families, spouses, parents, children, colleagues, and people of many professions who help us.

I am personally very thankful for my friends and my family. As a family law attorney, I deal with an enormous amount of stress and conflicts every day. My friends and family help me recharge and keep things in prospective. In turn, I help people every day to get through some dark times – family violence, fear of being destitute, loosing their children, etc. More than once I literally had clients hiding behind my back during hearings for temporary protective orders from their abusive spouses.

I am grateful to have an opportunity to serve my clients and make their lives easier, to hold their hands and to help them through divorce and custody battles. In the words of F. Scott Fitzgerald, family battles don’t go according to any rules and some of the damage from such quarrels will never heal. But there is a silver lining in everything: I always remind my clients to be grateful for their beautiful children, their health, friends and family, and time and opportunity to start over.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
