Just back, literally just stepped off the train and got home, from the Association of Family and Conciliation Court’s conference which was held over this past week in New Orleans. This is the penultimate family law conference.
The AFCC is and international organization comprised of lawyers, judges, mediators and mental health practitioners. As always, people throughout the United States and Canada attended, but I also met people from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Isreal and the Netherlands, just to name a few.
The conference comprised of greater than 80 training sessions on the best practices in family law led by some of the leaders on those subject matters.
As I wrote last year when I returned from the conference then, these are the most committed professionals to figuring out and improving family law practice. When I say, “they care,” I mean that they have halos on. They care that much. As the AFCC explains, “AFCC members share a strong committment to education, innovation and collaboration to benefit communities, empower families and promote a healthy future for children.”
Over the next several weeks, I’ll write about some of the thoughts shared in a few of those sessions.
Tonight, I’m just glad to be home and eager to get back to work tomorrow with our great group of committed family law practitioners right here in our Firm.
