Cara Schlosser

Cara comes from a long line of attorneys and is the fifth generation of attorneys in her family. Growing up, she heard of the dangers her grandmother faced as a young girl as her father who served as the District Attorney in their small town in South Mississippi, prosecuted the Ku Klux Klan during the Civil Rights Movement. Cara’s commitment to justice in the face of adversity is rooted in this legacy.  

After earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Business Management in May of 2015, Cara entered the legal world that she had been surrounded by her entire life. She followed her great-grandfather’s footsteps and joined the Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office where she assisted with the prosecution of misdemeanor domestic violence crimes. While with the Solicitor’s Office, Cara’s primary responsibility was to help misdemeanor crime victims understand and exercise their rights through the judicial process.

After her work with domestic violence victims, Cara moved to Columbia, South Carolina to attend the University of South Carolina School of Law. With the University of South Carolina School of Law’s proximity to the highest courts in South Carolina, she had the privilege of taking course with acting members of the South Carolina judiciary including the South Carolina Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court, District of South Carolina, and the South Carolina Court of Appeals. Cara served as an Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review’s publishment of its journal of legal scholarship for the legal community in South Carolina. She also worked as a research assistant to Professor Linnan, Associate Professor of Law, conducting legal research on the origin and evolution of human trafficking laws in the United States.

As a third-year law student, Cara served as an extern with the South Carolina Attorney General's Special Victims Prosecution Division assisting with the prosecution of crimes committed against children, domestic violence, and sexual assault. She also participated in the Criminal Practice Clinic at the University of South Carolina School of Law where she gained experience in the planning, preparation, and presentation of the legal defense in cases involving allegations of criminal conduct.  

Outside of her involvement in the law school, Cara gained a breadth of legal experience clerking with law firms in both Georgia and South Carolina where she worked in medical malpractice litigation, catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation, domestic relations litigation, automotive defense litigation, environmental litigation, personal injury litigation, pharmaceutical litigation, real estate litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and tax.

After Cara graduated law school from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2019, she studied for and passed the Georgia Bar and returned to Georgia to begin practicing law. Her first year as an attorney focused on personal injury litigation, estate planning, probate administration, business succession planning, complex trusts, special needs trusts, and probate litigation. 

Cara then began practicing exclusively in family law when she joined The Manely Firm, P.C. Her domestic relations experience includes cases involving highly contested custody; contempt of court, including custody, child support, visitation, alimony, and the division of marital assets and debts; international divorces requiring service in compliance with the Hague Convention; military divorces; high asset divorces; partition of real property; modification of child support and custody; domestication of foreign actions; legitimation; delegitimating; and temporary and rehabilitative alimony. Since joining the firm, Cara has represented clients in domestic relations actions in the in the Metro Atlanta and Savannah area as well as the Georgia Court of Appeals. After working in Lawrenceville with The Manely Firm for over two years, Cara moved her practice to Savannah in May of 2023 to practice family law in coastal Georgia where her husband also practices law, and they live with their two small children.
