Maxine Desir, Associate Attorney, Atlanta

Maxine Desir

  • Associate Attorney

Maxine was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and raised in Boca Raton, Florida. She comes from a large blended Cuban and Colombian family that has contributed an everlasting influence on how she now practices law. Maxine finds daily inspiration in reflecting on her grandparents journey from Havana, Cuba to the United States in search of a better life and takes full advantage of the opportunities before her. Her families’ encouragement of her studies served as her initial motivation to consider law school.

While at the university, Maxine’s grandmother continued to encourage her dreams of becoming a young Latin lawyer by reminding her of her childhood dreams. With such motivation backing her, Maxine graduated Cum Laude from Florida International University receiving her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. While at the University, Maxine repeatedly received Dean’s List honors and became a member of the Criminal Justice Honors Society. Towards the end of her undergrad career Maxine spent much of her time focusing on pre law studies. Following undergrad, Maxine studied at Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida. During her time at law school, Maxine began to hone in on her drive for litigation, she participated in moot court competitions as well as focused her studies in advanced research and writing for litigation. Through such courses, she was able to be successful in publishing an internal student Guide on Divorce. In addition to her studies, she took on two externship opportunities were she put her litigation skills to work. She has experience in both private and public practice, working in civil litigation and guardianship in Miami, Florida.

While having spent much of her free time in Miami, Maxine has volunteered her time with local fundraisers benefitting youth, police, veterans and low income families. She also supports the Susan G. Koman walk for breast cancer each year and is looking forward to participating in the Atlanta walk for the first time. Maxine will focus on Family Law and International Family Law in her new role with The Manely Firm and has the distinction of being the firm’s only fluent Spanish speaking attorney.  Maxine will be a huge asset to our team and is excited to realize her goals of making sure the families of the Latin community have a strong voice in their own legal matters.
