Meet Sarah Hegener: A Commitment to Probate and Estate Planning
I’m Sarah Hegener, and I’m excited to introduce myself as a new member of the estate planning and probate team at The Manely Firm! Estate planning and probate is not just an area of law I practice; it’s a calling shaped by my own life experience.
I graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2015 and spent several years practicing insurance defense litigation. While that work gave me a strong foundation in advocacy, analysis, and problem-solving, it wasn’t until a few years later that I found the area of law that truly felt meaningful and personal to me.
In 2020, my daughter was born with special needs, and my life—and perspective—changed completely.
Like many parents in similar situations, I suddenly found myself thinking about questions I had never seriously considered before: What would happen to my child if something happened to me? How do you plan for a future that is uncertain? How do you protect someone you love when you may not always be there to do it yourself?
That experience gave me a deep appreciation for how important thoughtful estate planning and long-term care planning really are—not just for the wealthy or elderly, but for any family trying to do the right thing for the people they love.
My experience also showed me how overwhelming and emotional these issues can be. Behind every will, trust, guardianship, or probate case is a real family, real relationships, and real worry about the future. I don’t take that lightly.
Today, I’m grateful to be practicing in an area of law where I can help clients plan ahead, protect their families, and navigate some of life’s most difficult transitions with clarity and dignity. Whether someone is planning for the future, caring for an aging parent, or dealing with the loss of a loved one, my goal is to provide both practical legal guidance and steady, compassionate support.
I’m proud to be part of The Manely Firm and I look forward to working with our clients and helping them build plans that give them peace of mind—no matter what the future holds.
