Divorce: Tissue boxes in every office.

On Behalf of | Nov 15, 2015 | Divorce

Today’s post about the impact of tissue boxes in divorce was written by our Lawrenceville and Gainesville attorney, Jennifer McCall.

Divorce is hard. Almost every day, I have someone crying in my office. Sometimes, I cry with them. We have tissue boxes in every office and replace them often.

It really bothers me when people make offhand comments saying that divorce is just too easy, that people rush out and get divorces. Maybe some do, but the vast majority of my clients came to this decision after a lot of heartache and a lot of inner struggle.

Even though almost half of marriages end in divorce, no one as a child thinks, “When I grow up, I’m going to be divorced!” I doubt people walk down the aisle thinking that they’ll likely become a statistic.

Even when the marriage has been an unhappy one for a long time, people still have a hard time taking this big step. I’ve heard clients say that divorce is really frowned upon in their faith or in their circle. I have watched emotionally drained people try to hang on for the sake of the children. We’d like to think that if our spouse ever cheated, we would angrily but firmly and quickly move on, but even those people have heartache and a hard time letting go. I’ve seen clients sob because they know their abusive spouse will not get better.

I hope that you, dear reader, will not be so quick to judge. I hope that you will there to offer to your friends support and love as they suffer through their divorces. I hope that if you are considering divorce, that you will come speak with one of our caring attorneys at The Manely Firm, P.C. Capable compassionate attorneys are waiting to help you, and we have the know how and the tissue boxes ready.
