Military Divorce in Georgia

On Behalf of | Oct 7, 2014 | Military Divorce

Tonight’s post was written by our Savannah, Military Divorce Attorney, David Purvis.

Other than kudzu, little covers our state like our military installations: Savannah, Augusta, Warner Robins, Columbus, Valdosta, Marietta, metro Atlanta, Albany. It’s hard to be anywhere in our great State and not be near a military base and it’s hard to be in a courtroom in Georgia where an attorney from The Manely Firm, P.C. has not been. We have successfully handled family law cases involving our military members throughout the State and in federal courts, all the way up to the United States Supreme Court.

What’s the difference between civilian divorces and those involving military members? Far more than could be discussed in just one blog. Military retirement and pension plans have very specific rules on how and when they can be divided. Determining income for purposes of determining alimony and child support is far different when using an LES statement. Parenting Plans take on a whole different spin when a parent is deployable. With our armed forces stationed around the world and when those soldiers marry someone from another country, international laws come into play if the parties divorce.

Kudzu, our military, The Manely Firm. You can’t travel many miles in Georgia without seeing one or all of these things. If you have a family law case in Georgia involving a military member call us for a free consultation.

There are significant consequences in a case involving a military member.  You cannot go blindly into that battle without an attorney who has ample experience with military divorces. That’s an ambush you can easily avoid.
