Cobb County

General Information

Cobb County has the most access to justice of all the counties we serve. Superior Court of Cobb County has 10 sitting Judges, four Senior Judges and four Juvenile Court Judges who routinely sit as Superior Court Judges to assist in the Court's quite busy calendar.

For a significant majority of the Judges, you can be heard in about 30 days after making your request for a hearing. This is significant because, while 30 days may seem like a long time, this is fairly quick access to a Judge to obtain a decision to help move your case along.

Superior Court of Cobb County has just moved across the street to a beautiful new 229,000 square foot, LEED certified Courthouse. The primary entrance for the new Courthouse is on Lawrence Street, immediately across the street from the existing parking garage and a new garage under construction. Instead of occupying two buildings connected by an atrium, Superior Court will now fit into one building consisting of seven floors. The new Courthouse is also accessible through the atrium entrance on both Roswell Rd. and Waddell St via a skywalk over Hayes St.

The new Courthouse harkens back to an historic Courthouse on the Marietta Square that was torn down in the early sixties. Though brought in under budget and well within the time allotted for construction, the building and Courtrooms are well appointed and set up for state of the art presentations. In addition to its acknowledgment of history, appreciation of aesthetics and wisdom for incorporating state of the art technology, the Courthouse remains just off the Marietta Square so that the downtown businesses will still enjoy the traffic the Courthouse brings.

Along with the existing parking garage and the garage under construction, parking is available for free all around the square for a two hour maximum. But don't count on your hearing concluding in less than two hours.

For an attorney, it will be a pleasure to practice in such a beautiful setting. I don't know that the grandeur of the setting will make being a litigant any easier at all.
