Believing in My Client

Believing in My Client

I’ve heard attorneys say that being an attorney is just a job. I disagree. It is not just a job; it is a calling. We deal with matters that can forever change lives. In family law, we are working with people and their children. It is so much more than just a job. I care very deeply about my clients, and they see it.

Last month, I fought in an all-day custody trial and my client won primary custody of her child. She told me that she knew that I deeply cared about her and her daughter and that meant a lot to her.

Later, I was successful in getting a TPO dismissed against another client. I truly believe that the TPO was a strategic tool abused by the opposing party and that my client had not committed the acts alleged. He told me that whatever the outcome, at least I believed him. He could tell that I believed him. Fortunately, the Judge agreed with me.

Later that day I worked much of the day with another client to gather and organize evidence of the harm she and her child have suffered. We filed an emergency motion and had a hearing granted for the very next day. She knows that I care and that I put a lot of work into preparing her case.

I have another client who has suffered from years of abuse. I was able to obtain a successful result for her and I am working hard to protect her. She told me that I am her angel.

I don’t write all of this to toot my own horn, but rather to show that we are deeply committed to and concerned about our clients. It’s critically important to have an attorney who believes in you and in your case, who considers this position a calling and a privilege, not just a job. I love my job. I am committed to my calling. It is what I do. It’s what we do.
